College student Blake Feeney awakened in his apartment with the feeling that something strange had happened the night before. He thought he'd been studying; so why was his place covered with dirt, empty bottles, and forest detritus?
As Blake stumbled through the rest of his week, things just got worse. A bizarre yellow symbol appeared on his bathroom mirror. He had nightmares about a group of murderous cultists. His jealous boyfriend, Dexter, wouldn't believe that he wasn't sleeping around. His friend Liz started acting strange when she found a manuscript in the library--then disappeared completely. And a local Vodou priestess predicted that Blake's situation was unlikely to improve.

Chambers, and August Derleth, The Pallid Mask follows Blake and his friends as they encounter the supernatural in the quiet college town of Gainesville, FL. Nyarlathotep's Starry Wisdom Cult play a key role, as they unwittingly bring the Unspeakable One--Hastur--back from his exile in the Hyades. Though weak at first, Hastur regains power with each victim he consumes. Will he take over Gainesville? Can anyone survive against a Lovecraftian deity?
